RARIFY

My role: UX / UI

Rarify is an art collectors hub uniting together talented artists, collectors, and art industry professionals. The ultimate goal was to build a product that could please and motivate subscribers to buy and sell more art online.

Together with developers, we found the solution of building a sophisticated recommendation engine based on onboarding quizzes, tagging systems, and data labeling that can learn about users’ preferences and curate their tastes by recommending artists, designers, and collectors they may be interested in.

Designing Rarify, I learned that for the art marketplace design, every detail matters. Building a community of collectors of art, design, furniture, fashion, jewelry, watches, and other fine items is another challenging task. It’s impossible to think of more demanding users in terms of the level of detail in the presentation of the goods they showcase.

I conducted stakeholder interviews and learned about the competitors - the art markets’ websites and marketplaces. After the first version launched we run user tests to collect precious data that could drive my designs further and help the development team in the right direction. Together as a team, we’ve learned a lot about our customers beforehand and iterated on every part of the project to provide enough evidence for everybody involved and create a truly empathetic platform that could meet savvy users' expectations.

“More and more people are choosing to invest in art and design. But the industry hasn’t really reacted to this and the tools available for collectors to find items they love haven’t really changed. By giving collectors a way to showcase their collections and connect with other like-minded collectors, we’re giving them the ability to find art and design items on an unprecedented level, some of which would usually never be seen on the market again,” Please enjoy the art.
